Workshop Topic: Slice and Insert Improvisation
Lecture Topic: Modern Quilting: You'll Know It When You See It. Are you seeing the word "modern" plastered on anything that moves these days? Confused about what Modern Quilting really is? Jacquie will share her definition of Modern Quilting and directly address some of the misunderstandings and questions about the modern aesthetic. As always the best way to understand anything about modern quilts is by seeing examples and Jacquie will share lots of quilts and talk about what makes them modern or not. Come with your questions and we'll talk Modern Quilting together.

Workshop Topic: Piecing Your Dreams
Lecture Topic: For her lecture pamela will speak about her work using the technique she will be teaching in her class. Pamela will teach you how to piece from a paper pattern, techniques she has learned from the books of Ruth McDowell. With McDowell’s techniques you can piece almost any design element (only curves less than one inch in diameter must be avoided or appliquéd). Best of all, you can see the whole design in your chosen fabrics before you sew it together.Although She uses these techniques for any complex pattern, they are most popular for pictorial piecing. For the class project Pamela designed the thriving tree you see pictured below, which is very easy to put together. Students will get a ready-to-use copy of the pattern.I am teaching this class as a benefit for the guild, so every dollar in class fees goes to support GSQ!
