Grants & Scholarships
WHAT GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS DOES:
This committee was formed to support the continued growth of quilt making as an art form and engage in charitable and educational activities. To these ends, Grants and Scholarships has recently made a contribution toward the restoration of an antique quilt and provided materials to a Girl Scout Troop for a sewing badge project,

Mission

Fostering the continued growth of quilt making as an art form in the State of New Jersey.

Provide awareness and appreciation for quilt making while educating the community of techniques, designs and craftsmanship.

Assist charitable organizations with their community outreach projects to enhance and encourage quilt-related educational programs.
Eligibility

Garden State Quilters member in good standing or
-
Non- Garden State Quilters applicant(s) sponsored by a GSQ member in good standing.

Applicants do not have to be a resident of New Jersey.

All applicants agree to provide Garden State Quilters with photos of completed projects, which could be displayed on the guild's social media pages.
Timeline

Submit application prior to November 1st.

Awards are granted for a single year. If applicants would like to apply for another year of funding, a separate application must be completed and will be due before November 1.

Applications are reviewed during December - January GSQ Board meetings. The Board of Trustees will decide at the February board meeting. All applicants will be notified after the February board meeting.

An invitation would be extended to the successful applicant(s) to attend the March general meeting to receive the grant or scholarship certificate and take photos with the board members.

The following year the successful applicant(s) will present the completed project at the February board meeting and the March general meeting.
